Rigging the sail
Make sure that the gooseneck is above the Laser kicker fitting on the mast before you pull up the sail. Pull the sail right up to the halyard mount pulley and cleat it. Check that the kicker fitting is attached and then pull down to tighten the gooseneck and tension the sail.
Getting on the water
If the wind is blowing away from the shore you should be able to launch the boat with the sail already up. But with the wind blowing on to the shore it is best to launch with the sail down first and then raise the sail.
De-rigging
De-rigging should be quick and easy. If you are putting the boat away for the day let the kicker off and then unshackle the kicker fitting from the mast before lowering the sail. That way taking the mast down and slipping the gooseneck off is easier.
Putting the rig away
With the mast down you can just put the cover on and walk away with the rig almost ready to go for next time. Some sailors like to take the sail home and wash any dirt off and store it dry - if you want to do this then undo the halyard from the upper boom first, then detach the two corners - the tack and the clew. Then you can slide the sail off the upper boom and roll it up ready to take home.
